SUBJECT: Meeting Reminder—June 21, 2012
This is to remind you of our upcoming meeting on Thursday,June 21, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. at the Elk River
City Hall in the Uppertown Conference Room. Please see the attached agenda and minutes.
STAFF UPDATES
1. ELK RIVER WATER TOWER UPDATE
The National Park Service has announced that the Elk River Water Tower is on the National Register
of Historic Places. The HPC now needs to determine how to fundraise and find grant opportunities to
help with the restoration.
2. PLANNING COMMISSION ITEMS
No items on the Planning Commission agenda for discussion.
3. DOWTOWN TASK FORCE UPDATE
Chair Lindberg will give an update from the meetings that were on April 23, 2012 and May 30, 2012.
The next meeting is scheduled for June 25, 2012.
4. BAILEY POINT & HOULTON PROPERTY UPDATE
Staff will give updates during the meeting.
5. SHERBURNE COUNTY FAIR BOOTH
There are no booths available inside the buildings for the Sherburne County Fair. There are spaces
available outside.
6. HISTORIC ARTICLES
Staff will be working with SCSU on writing articles about the events in Elk River that the Water Tower
has seen since 1920. The HPC also discussed writing articles about the pros and cons of creating _
historic neighborhood districts. Staff is considering asking SCSU to also write articles on the topic.
Let's further discuss this at the meeting.
