Request George Ndege has requested the use of the Lions Park Bandshell to hold a concert. The date of the event is scheduled for Sunday August 26th from 2:00 - 10:00 p.m Several bands will be playing throughout the day. The group will bring a sound system and stage lights. Friends and family as well as the public will be invited to the concert at no cost. Information for your consideration • This is a Resident group Staff Recommendations Event be approved with the following guidelines: • The group pay the bandshell rental fee of $20.00 • The group cover the cost of any additional needs such as trash cans or portable toilets • The group adhere to City noise ordinances • The police Department will make regular checks of the concert throughout the event. Their cameras will be utilized for many areas within the city. Staff would like to discuss the use of security camera(s) for the parks department for monitoring activities in city parks. Items to discuss would include: • Do we want to pursue this? Portable, permanent, or both? • Should we include them in QP for 2013? • Prioritize what parks to utilize them in. Staff will provide images and costs of the units at the Planning Commission Meeting. Guardian Angels will now occupy this space and provide staff for the Wellness Center. Elk River Activity Center staff will no longer be on site, but will continue some programs and activities on a limited basis. • Zumba Gold - This new dance- fitness class held at the Activity Center began on July 10`' and is off to a strong start. • July trips included Crossroads shopping in St Cloud, Minnetonka Boat Cruise and a Tourco extended trip to the Canadian Rockies. • Main event in July was a performance by the Maple Grove Senior group "Players In the Groove ". About 90 attended and enjoyed this comedy. • RecTrac Database - Activity Center staff attended training for this new system. Staff will continue to work on entering information needed for this system to be in place in November.
