SUBJECT: Meeting Reminder —August 16, 2012
This is to remind you of our upcoming meeting on Thursday, August 16, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. at the Elk
River City Hall in the Uppertown Conference Room. Please see the attached agenda and minutes.
STAFF UPDATES
I. ELK RIVER WATER TOWER UPDATE
Staff met with Gary Meyer, a water tower contractor and contacted TMI Coatings to get an estimate
on the cost to restore the water tower. Mr. Meyer suggested moving the water tower and lowering
it. Staff informed him that is not possible because of the NRHP status. Both contractors will be
providing us with estimates but Mr. Meyer's initial estimate is $400,000.
The HPC needs to discuss fundraising opportunities.
2. PLANNING COMMISSION ITEMS
No items on the Planning Commission agenda for discussion.
3. DOWTOWN TASK FORCE UPDATE
The next meeting is scheduled for August 27, 2012. Jeremy Barnhart, Planning Manager will be
presenting the Downtown Plan to the HPC at the September 20, 2012 meeting.
4. BAILEY POINT & HOULTON PROPERTY UPDATE
Staff will give updates during the meeting.
S. PRESERVE MN — THE 32 "D ANNUAL STATEWIDE HISTORIC PRESERVATION
CONFERENCE
The Conference is scheduled for Thursday & Friday, September 13 -14, 2012 at the Center for the Arts
in Fergus Falls, MN. In order to maintain our Certified Local Government (CLG) status, one HPC
Commissioner must attend. Staff is in the process of applying for scholarships and need to know who
will be available to attend.
