Receive the Downtown Task Force plan and presentation.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
On September 4th,the public review period of the Downtown Task Force's Mississippi Connections plan
commenced with an overview presentation to the City Council and Housing and Redevelopment
Authority.
The Planning Commission is the third stop on the plan's tour of the Boards and Commissions. Planning
Commissioners are not asked to act on the plan;rather,any comments generated should be forwarded to
the Downtown Task Force by September 24t. An Open House is also scheduled for September 13th for
the public to review and learn about the plan. Note cards will be available at the meeting. Any
comments may also be emailed to the Planning Manager's attention.
The Downtown Task Force was convened in November,2011 to develop a plan to address changes to
the core of the city brought on by Highway 10 modifications anticipated over the next several decades.
The plan is focused on developing a strategy to strengthen the core area as an asset for Elk River.
