SUBJECT: Meeting Reminder& Staff Updates- September 19, 2012
This is to remind you.of our upcoming meeting on Wednesday,September 19,2012 at 8:30 a.m.
in the Uppertown Conference Room at the Elk River City Hall. The agenda and June minutes are
attached.There was not a quorum at the August meeting.
STAFF UPDATES
BUDGET
The City Council didn't state that they were opposed to any of the items in the Energy City budget
during the August 20,2012 Work session meeting. The proposed budget is included in your packet
ENERGY AWARENESS WEEK
It has been discussed during past meetings to do some type of publicity for Energy City during
Energy Awareness month (October). Staff has drafted an Energy Awareness Week Proclamation
for City Council that is included in your packet Staff will be meeting with the River's Edge Business
Association on Wednesday 12th to discuss their involvement in a community contest and will be
giving an update at the meeting.
DEMONSTRATION CRITERIA
Staff would like to update the website with information on how to become a demonstration site.
The ECC needs to determine a process for selecting new demonstration sites.An old demonstration
site application is included in your packet.

If you haven't already submitted your bio and business description,please do so ASAP to be placed
on the City's website.

PROJECT CONSERVE
Staff will be giving an update on the status of Project Conserve at the meeting.The EEC will discuss
their involvement in Phase W of the program.
BUSINESS EDUCATION EVENT
The August Business Education Event on water usage was cancelled due to lack of RSVPs.The next
event is scheduled for Wednesday, October 24,2012 from 12:00— 1:30 p.m. at the Elk River
Library.The topic covered will be fats,oils,and grease recycling for restaurants.Presentations will
be given by representatives from Midwest Grease Recycling. Please let us know if you have any
topics you think businesses would be interested in learning about.
