Downtown Update: Clay Wilfahrt: The study, called the Mississippi Connections Redevelopment Framework, is billed as a long-range vision for the 400- acre core of Elk River. Mississippi connections plan has hwy 10 being an urban freeway not something that is going to happen immediately, looking at 20-30 years out before MnDot has the funding. City is trying to plan for changes for future. Meeting for public input to talk about plan on Monday October 22th. Elkrivermn.gov plan on website. Marketing Brochure Clay Looking at developing a new downtown brochure. The one that the group looked at and liked at previous meetings was based on a Minneapolis Warehouse district brochure. It has a map and categorizes businesses by what they do, what they have to offer and gives a feel of what that area is like.We want to promote the unique culture of downtown, connections to the river, food, granite shores. We would like to see added recognition to businesses who are members of Rivers Edge. Larger logo, * on map. Encourage people to become members of the downtown Rivers Edge group. Park& Rec Downtown Events Steve Benoit Wrapping up summer programs. Only 1 concert needed to be moved indoors this summer. Good series, governor Dayton attended one of our concerts. 3 dates left from farmers market. Feedback. Fewer vendors showing up. Longer standing vendors—say their sales are up in the new location. Had 8 vendors last week. Will evaluate concert series and farmers market try to balance the kind of vendors who are there. People have signed up but haven't showed up. Northbound wasn't that well staffed the first year but blew up after that .
