FOR IMMEDIATE USE - November 4, 2003
U.S. Highway 169 interchange at Sherburne
County Road 33 opened to traffic
ST. CLOUD, Minn. - The new interchange at U.S. Highway 169 at Sherburne County Road 33, on
the north end of the Elk River city limits opened to traffic on Tuesday, November 4,
reports the Minnesota Department of Transportation (Mn/DOT).
According to Mn/DOT project officials, motorists should plan for intermittent daytime lane
closures as crews complete the remaining work on the realignment of County Road 21 on the
east side of the project.
Work on the highway improvement began in April. Over the summer, crews constructed of a
full diamond interchange approximately one mile north of 197th Avenue, with Sherburne
County Road 33 running east/west, going over Highway 169. In addition, the County Road 21
realignment was part of the project.
Motorists are urged to use caution and slow down through the work zone. Weather
permitting, the $6.1 million highway improvement project will be finished in mid-to-late
November.
