BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
Staff attends the monthly Downtown River's Edge Business Association meetings to maintain our
relationship with the downtown businesses. The purpose of this memo is to provide the HRA with
updates regarding the downtown businesses.
Sweet P's Candies and Ice Cream
Recently began serving coffee, cappuccino, hot cocoa, donuts and cookies in efforts increase business as
we move into the colder season. Sweet P's is located at 707 Main Street and now will open daily at 8 a.m.
Granite Shores
Staff worked with HRA attorney Jenny Bolton from Kennedy and Graven to determine SAC and WAC
fees for Granite Shores as outlined in the TIF agreement. It was determined that upon development, the
developer pre-paid one SAC/WAC unit for every 3,000 square feet of commercial space. Therefore,
there is one unit credited to the total fee for every 3,000 square feet. Conversations with Building Official
Bob Ruprecht indicated that office uses would most likely not have to pay additional charges; an
advantage to marketing the available commercial space of Granite Shores. This information was
communicated with all parties.
Ella's
In late August, Ella's, a locally owned shop featuring antiques, vintage collectibles and Shabby Chic
opened at 825 Main Street (formerly Uniquely Yours). Ella's is an occasional store open Tuesday through
Thursday the 2nd and 4th week of each month from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. For more information, visit Ella's blog
at www.shopatellas.blogspot.com/.
Ella's celebrated their grand opening on November 2nd and 3rd with refreshments and drawings for prizes
for those who brought donations of hats, scarves or mittens for CAER.

downtown businesses by 3:00pm (event lasted until 5:00pm). The pumpkin roll event raised$300
