Fire Department Update

I will be in attendance at the November 24, 2003 City' Council meeting to update the Mayor and City
Council on three topics of interest to our community and the Elk River Fire Department. The
Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program ',viii have its first orientation with our
selected team members on Tuesday, December 2, 2003 at 7:00 p.m. in the new Emergency
Operations Center/Training Room at the Public Safety Building. The CERT Team Organizing
Committee is very excited with the response from our community and is looking forward to the
upcoming training starting in January 2004.
I -,viii also update the Mayor and City Council in reference to the operations at Fire Station 2 located
at 13073 Orono Parkway. Discussion areas include:

I will also be happy to answer questions regarding the changes in the fireworks laws during the 2003
Legislative session and how it will affect our inspection process, regulations, and discuss a sample of
where fireworks have traditionally been sold within our community.
