Hot Topic(s) of the Month
The Recreation Division was heavily involved in training during the month of October for
our new recreation software system called RecTrac. This new software will allow for a more
streamlined registration process for customers and will allow staff to better analyze program
and facility usage in order to make effective offerings to the community. RecTrac will be
fully implemented over the next several months.

SUBJECT: Activity Center Report
October Recap:
• Bob Ross Method painting classes were held in October. The first class was filled so an
additional class was added. All participants loved the class and expressed thanks to
the city for helping to pay for the instructor cost.
• Oktoberfest was co-sponsored with Elk River Senior Dining site. Music was
sponsored by the Activity Center and 130 attended this event held at 350 Evans.
• Healthy Living free presentation topic for October was `Managing Stress and
Depression".Attendance continues to grow each month,with 19 attending this
presentation. Topic next month: Alzheimer's.
• One-on-one Medicare help appointments began in October. A Central MN Council
on Aging counselor meets with seniors to help them compare and choose the most
cost effective plan for them. Five additional days have been added for appointments
due to high demand for this service. Open enrollment for Medicare runs through
December 7th.
• October trips included Amtrak trip to Treasure Island and the St Croix Valley.

November 8th - Fashion Show and Sale at the Activity Center.
November 20th -Annual C.A.E.R. food shelf fundraiser co-sponsored with Elk River Senior
Dining at the 350 Evans dining room.
November 29th—Performance of Santa Flunks Christmas by the Maple Grove Players in the
Groove. Held at the Activity Center, this will also be fundraiser for C.A.E.R food shelf.
