A RESOLUTION OF THE ELK RIVER
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY
RECOGNIZING CONTRIBUTIONS OF NICK ZERWAS SERVING ON THE ELK
RIVER ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY
WHEREAS, On January 2, 2007, the Elk River City Council appointed Nick Zerwas to serve
on the Elk River Economic Development Authority; and
WHEREAS, During his tenure on the EDA,Mr. Zerwas was instrumental in in approving a
$12 million bond issue to finance the Elk River YMCA project; and
WHEREAS, his work resulted in the creation of over 100 jobs through the use of Tax
Abatement financing to spur the expansion of two existing businesses within the
community ;and
WHEREAS, He was a strong supporter of the Microloan Program,which provided$484,000
in funding to assist 10 businesses within the community;and
WHEREAS, On May 11, 2009, the EDA approved the 1715[Focused Area Study, outlining
development framework 1,000 acres around the Northstar Commuter Rail train
station site,including 60 acre city-owned Natures Edge Business Center;and

WHEREAS, On January 10, 2011, the EDA appointed Mr. Zerwas to the branding

subcommittee to facilitate the branding process; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Zerwas was a strong contributor to the branding subcommittee and on
September 12, 2011, the EDA approved moving forward with the
implementation of the Elk River Brand Plan, and on April 23, 2012, the EDA
appointed Mr. Zerwas to the Brand Champions Team;and
WHEREAS, On November 7, 2011, Mr. Zerwas was appointed to the Downtown
Redevelopment Task Force to facilitate the Mississippi Connections
Redevelopment plan approved by the City Council on December 3, 2012;and
WHEREAS, On January 12,2012, the EDA authorized funding to assist with the
improvement costs associated with Nature's Edge Business Center industrial
park, and
WHEREAS Nick Zerwas's commitment,background and service has contributed to create a
strong and sustainable organization working to benefit the City of Elk River.
NOW,THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED the Economic Development Authority in and for
the City of Elk River,Minnesota expresses their grateful appreciation for his devotion of time,
• knowledge, and experience serving on the Elk River Economic Development Authority.
Passed and adopted by the Elk River Economic Development Authority this 10`h day of December,
