ACTION REQUESTED
City staff will present several playground design concepts for consideration by both the Parks and
Recreation Commissions and the public.
Staff is looking for direction on the design concepts and what the playground should offer. The final
playground design and budget will be presented to the Parks and Recreation Commission in the next
couple months at one of the scheduled regular meetings.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
The existing structure is over 25 years old and due to its deterioration from age, increased safety
concerns, and growing costs to repair the structure the City Council approved a$250,000 budget for a
replacement destination playground.
Concepts
Staff will be presenting several design concepts, provided to staff by two separate playgrounds
manufactures, for a destination playground. A"destination playground" is a larger play area with more
unique features for people to explore and interact appealing to a broader range of users.
The design concepts were developed using the city's Powered by Nature theme.
