SUBJECT: Meeting Reminder & Staff Updates— December 19, 2012
This is to remind you of our upcoming meeting on Wednesday,December 19,2012 at 8:30 a.m.
in the Uppertown Conference Room at the Pik River City Hall. The agenda and November
minutes are attached.
STAFF UPDATES
COMMISSION SUBCOMMITTEES
Education—The Education Subcommittee met on December 5,2012. Commissioner Zehringer
will give an update from the meeting.
Energy Design—The Energy Design Subcommittee met on December 6,2012. Staff Sagstetter will
give an update from the meeting.
Demonstration Criteria—The Demonstration Criteria Subcommittee met on December 10,2012.
Commissioner Rybak will give an update from the meeting.
Visionary—Due to inclement weather the visionary committee did not meet during its scheduled
time on December 10,2012. The committee will meet after this meeting and provide an update to
the Commission in January.
TINY SOLAR HOUSE
MRES and the City sent out press releases indicating that the house is open for tours and will
remain in Elk River until the spring. There was discussion at last month's meeting about bringing
the house to the schools and having an Open House at the Tiny Solar House. Please be prepared to
further discuss how ECC can promote this demonstration site.

NATURE
SCIENCE FAIR JUDGING
The Salk Science Fair is January 7th-10th.They need about 60 members from the community to be
judges for about 1 or 2 hours during the school day (8:30am-3:00pm).Individuals do not need a
science background to be a judge.
The purpose of the fair is for students to communicate their learning to someone that is unfamiliar
to them or their project,if you would be willing to judge the fair,email TA Flatland at
teri.flatland@elkriver.k12.mn.us or call 763.241.3455. ext 2506.
Please let me know if and when you will be judging so I can make sure we don't violate any open
meeting laws in case there is a quorum.
