TO: Energy City Commissioners FROM: Rebecca Haug, Environmental Administrator DATE: January 8, 2013 SUBJECT: Meeting Reminder & Staff Updates—January 16, 2013 This is to remind you of our upcoming meeting on Wednesday,January 16,2013 at 8:30 a.m.in the Uppertown Conference Room at the Elk River City Hall. The agenda and December minutes are attached. STAFF UPDATES • COMMISSION SUBCOMMITTEES Education—The Education Subcommittee doesn't meet until February 5,2013. An update will be given at the March meeting. . Energy Design—The Energy Design Subcommittee met on January 3,2012. A draft flier has been put together to be given out to builders,homeowners,architects,etc.to provide some ideas on more energy efficient building component materials. The draft flier is attached. Commissioner Chuba and staff Sagstetter will further discuss at the meeting. Demonstration Criteria—The Demonstration Criteria Subcommittee meets after the January 16, 2013 ECC meeting. • Visionary—The Visionary Subcommittee met on January 5, 2013. The subcommittee set the vision for ECC: "Make Elk River the most energy responsible city in Minnesota". In order to do this, projects must be cost effective, energy efficient,energy independent and reduce consumption of energy. Each subcommittee should work towards making this vision a reality for Elk River. Chair Setala will give a more in depth update during the January 16,2013 meeting. FUTURE MEETING TOPICS Energy City will be exhibiting at the CERT's Conference February 20-21,2013 at the St..Cloud Civic Center. Staff would like to propose that the February Energy City Commission be cancelled. Rebecca Lundberg,Powerfully Green will be presenting at the March 20,2013 ECC meeting about solar power.
