Each course covers as many hours as an average college class, and culminates in a final examination. Courses teach crucial economic development fmance skills. Staff would like to request that Clay Wilfahrt,Assistant Director of Economic Development,be authorized to attend two 2013 NDC training courses—Business Credit Analysis and The Art of Deal Structuring. Both courses are part of a four-course Economic Development Finance Professional certification. Information about each course is attached. Economic development fmance is an essential function of the Assistant Director position. Job duties such as administering the micro-loan fund,assisting prospective clients through the development process and marketing financing programs all rely heavily on knowledge of economic development financing. The NDC coursework will help Mr. Wilfahrt establish better understanding of all of these topics. Following the completion of these two courses, the National Development Council will certify Mr. Wilfahrt as an Economic Development Finance Professional. FINANCIAL IMPACT Staff budgeted$6,800 for NDC training costs in 2013. The total cost of the two training courses for Mr. Wilfahrt would be$5,804 as outlined in the attached document. Staff will be applying for an Initiative Foundation grant to cover the$2,250 cost of tuition for the courses.
