SUBJECT: Consider Calling Special Council Meeting with HRA at 5 p.m. on
June 24, 2002
The HRA meets at 5 p.m. on Monday, June 24, 2002. It is requested that the City Council join
the HRA at this meeting and accordingly, call a special City Council meeting for this date and
time. This 5 p.m. meeting is prior to the 6 p.m. regular City Council meeting on Monday,
June 24.
The purpose of the joint meeting is to have the Council hear the discussion and
recommendation on the developers and development proposals that xvere submitted for work
in the downtown. Additionally, the city has received a request for an apartment project and a
discussion needs to take place (and direction given to staff) regarding if affordable housing
should be a component of this apartment proposal. Any type of affordable housing
component will require city participation although there are various forms of participation that
can be taken by the city. Direction to pursue affordable housing or not is being requested on
June 24 and if staff receives a positive response from the HRA and City Council then the
details on financing options will be presented at a later date.
