Adopt by motion the attached resolution accepting the storage unit donation valued at $1,000 to be
installed at the Youth Athletic Complex (YAC) football field from the Elk River Youth Football
Association.

ACKGROUNDISCUSSION
Staff was approached in February by the Elk River Youth Football Association to donate a used metal
storage container for the Youth Athletic Complex football field. They will share it with the city to be used
for both football and athletic field supplies. It is a storage container 8 x 8 in size with the estimated value
of $1,000. The exact location of the storage unit is in the opposite corner of the scoreboard as shown on
the attached site plan.
Pursuant to Minnesota State Statute §465.03, the resolution requires adoption by a 2/3 majority vote.
The Football Association placed storage units at the same site in past years to store equipment. This
donation was discussed and recommended by the Parks and Recreation Commission at the March 13
meeting.

INANCIAL MPACT
The purchase of the storage unit does not require a financial contribution by the city. The city will assist
in the installation of the storage unit at the proper site and it will require little or no maintenance annually.
The only maintenance expected is cleaning and exterior painting of the unit. No utilities are planned for
the storage unit.

RESOLUTION ACKNOWLEDGING
CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE
CITY OF ELK RIVER
WHEREAS, the City of Elk River is grateful to all civic groups, organizations,and
individuals for their contributions to the community;and
WHEREAS, the City of Elk River received a metal storage unit as a donation and valued
at$1,000.00 from the Elk River Youth Football Association with the intent it
be used by the Football Association.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Elk
River, by at least a two-thirds vote, to acknowledge the support and commend Elk River
Youth Football for their donation.
Passed and adopted by the City Council of the City of Elk River this 18th day of March 2013.
