4.6. SR 03-18-2013 Eli: REQUEST FOR ACTION River TO ITEM NUMBER Mayor and City Council 4.6 AGENDA SECTION MEETING DATE PREPARED BY Consent March 18,2013 Lauren Wipper,HR Representative ITEM DESCRIPTION REVIEWED By Temporary Increase in Human Resources Support Hours Cal Portner,City Administrator REVIEWED BY ACTION REQUESTED Approve by motion an increase in 2013 work hours for the payroll clerk by 16 each bi-weekly pay cycle to provide temporary human resources (FIR) support. BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION At the March 11, 2013,work session, the City Council received a report regarding the need for additional assistance in the HR division. The city payroll clerk,Denise Keller, currently works an average of 32 hours per week and has an HR background. The HR Division was expected to receive support from payroll and administration, however, due to delays in the purchase of new timekeeping software, unexpected new federal reporting requirements, additional new and replacement hires, and unexpected FLSA leave,HR needs additional support to catch up with work. The added hours will be temporary for 2013,until HR is caught up or upon final implementation of the new timekeeping software. FINANCIAL IMPACT The maximum cost for Ms. Keller to work 40-hours each week until year-end would be an additional cost of no more than$10,300.
