ACTION REQUESTED
Adopt by motion the attached resolution in support of funding for Trunk Highway 10/Highway 169
corridor improvements.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
In 2008, the City of Elk River initiated, actively participated in,and funded the Planning for Mobility
Improvements to the Trunk Highway 10 and Trunk Highway 169 corridors in Elk River.The plan laid
out general improvements to address problems with safety and mobility issues but no funding was
available to implement the improvements.
Through the attached resolution, the city supports continued and cooperative efforts with Sherburne and
Anoka Counties, the cities of Zimmerman,Ramsey,Anoka,and MnDOT to fund and improve Trunk
Highway 10/Highway 169 Corridor.

RESOLUTION NO. 13-
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF ELK RIVER IN SUPPORT OF FUNDING FOR
TH I 0 IMPROVEMENTS
WHEREAS, Trunk Highway 10 (TH10) and Highway 169 corridor,located in Sherburne and
Anoka Counties, has been problematic for years;and
WHEREAS, the problems have to do with safety and mobility;and
WHEREAS, in 2008, the City of Elk River initiated, actively participated in,and funded the
Planning for Mobility Improvements to the TH10 and TH169 Corridors in Elk
River; and
WHEREAS, such plan laid out general improvements to address problems with TH10 and
TH169;and
WHEREAS, the study included Geometric Layouts and Environmental Assessments for the
improvements to TH10 and TH169;both of which received a Finding of No
Significant Impact (FONSI) from the Federal Highway Administration in 2012 (TH
10) and 2013 (TH 169);and
WHEREAS, no funding was available to implement the improvements; and
WHEREAS, the City of Elk River supports working cooperatively with Sherburne and Anoka
Counties, the cities of Zimmerman, Ramsey, Anoka, and MnDOT to fund and
improve Trunk Highway 10/Highway 169 Corridor;and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ELK RIVER, SHERBURNE COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, that the City of
Elk River supports continued efforts to make safety and mobility improvements on the Trunk
Highway 10/Highway 169 Corridor.
Passed and adopted by the Elk River City Council this 18th day of March,2013.
