Hold the public hearing. 2. Adopt by motion an ordinance adding section 30-877 and amending section 30-1311 and 30-1312 to address signage in the I-3 General Industrial Zoning District. BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION The I-3 zoning district was created as a home for certain necessary industrial uses within the community that did not require municipal water or sanitary sewer. In the development of this district, the signage regulations and the setbacks are not clearly defined. This ordinance copies the signage and the setbacks from I-2 (medium industrial),with the exception of billboards. Billboards are not proposed to be allowed in the I-3 zoning district. Planning Commission comments The Planning Commission held their public hearing on March 12. There were no concerns or comments regarding the draft ordinance. Public Comment No comments for or against the proposal have been received. ATTACHMENTS • Ordinance Action Motion by Second by Vote Follow Up POWERED 8 Y INATUREI ORDINANCE 13- CITY OF ELK RIVER AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF ELK RIVER ADDING SECTION 30-877 AND AMENDING SECTION 30-1311 AND 30-1312 OF THE CITY CODE TO ADDRESS SIGNAGE IN THE 1-3, GENERAL INDUSTRIAL ZONING DISTRICT OF THE CITY OF ELK RIVER The City Council of the City of Elk River does hereby ordain as follows: Section 1. That the City of Elk River Code of Ordinances shall be amended to add new section 30-877 there to read as follows: Sec. 30-877. I-3 General Industrial District (a)Temporary signs as permitted in section 30-859 et seq. (b)Permanent signs. (1) One permanent area identification sign per neighborhood,subdivision,or development,not to exceed 64 square feet with a maximum height of 20 feet.The area identification sign shall be located on the same premises as the development it identifies. (2) One freestanding sign not to exceed 150 square feet,with a maximum height of 30 feet. Where a lot has in excess of 300 feet of street frontage,one additional freestanding or monument sign will be allowed.This sign shall be subject to the size and height limitations of the first allowed freestanding or monument sign and shall be no closer than 150 feet to any other freestanding or monument sign on the same premise. (3)The sign area of an area identification sign or a freestanding sign may be increased 25 percent if the sign is constructed as a monument sign. (4)One wall sign,not to exceed 120 square feet per occupancy. Section 2. That Section 30-1311 of the City of Elk River Code of Ordinances, titled Principal structures, shall be amended to read as follows: Sec. 30-1311.
