Approve by motion a special event permit to Salk Middle School for a 5K walk/run scheduled for May
18,2013,with the following conditions:
1. Applicant shall be responsible for garbage clean-up.
2. No paint allowed anywhere on trails. Chalk or cones may be used.
3. Applicant must contact Police Captain Ron Nierenhausen (763.635.1202) at least three weeks
prior to event to arrange for police reserves.
Background/Discussion
Salk Middle School is requesting to host a 5K walk/run on May 18,2013. Below is a synopsis of the
request:
• The 5K run/walk will begin and end at Salk Middle School.
• The event begins at 8 a.m. and goes until noon.
• The event is open to all Salk Middle School students and their families and friends. The event is
also open to Elk River residents. Salk is expecting a minimum of 500 participants,volunteers,
and spectators.
• Salk has requested Police Department traffic control at the intersections of Highland Ave/Street
and Proctor Road (77) and at the stoplight at Proctor Road and County Road 1.
