Mayor administer the Oath of Office to:
1. Sergeant Brian Boos
2. Officer William Koch
BACKGROUND /DISCUSSION
As a result of the retirement of Sergeant Jeff Mordal, the Council authorized the promotion of
Sergeant Brian Boos and the hiring of Officer William Koch (pronounced Cook) at the April 1,
2013, Council meeting. Sergeant Boos' promotion was effective April 2, 2013. Officer Koch's
date of hire is April 15, 2013.
It is a tradition in the Police Department that the Oath of Office be administered at an open
Council meeting as a means of publicly acknowledging promotions and introducing new officers.
The Oath of Office is a public statement of commitment to support the Constitutions of the
United States of America and the State of Minnesota and discharge faithfully the assigned duties
in the City of Elk River.
