Approve by motion the hiring of Brian Beeman as Economic Development Director effective April 16,
2013.

ACKGROUNDISCUSSION
After review of the applications received, staff interviewed four candidates for this position. Two
candidates were invited back for a second interview and Brian Beeman was selected to be recommended
for this position.
Mr. Beeman has a variety of experiences in his background. Most recently as the City Administrator for
the City of Melrose. He also served as City Administrator for the City of Sutton, Nebraska, was a state
nd
trooper in Nebraska, a 2 Lieutenant in the Army National Guard, and served in Operation Enduring
Freedom.
Mr. Beeman’s starting salary will be at step A of pay grade 12. Based on satisfactory performance, he will
be eligible for a step increase after 6 months of employment. Vacation accrual will be at the rate of 3
weeks per year and will increase when he reaches the years of service required to move beyond this level.
