Staff has met with the Skate Park Committee to discuss locations and the users have no issue with the
park being moved to another location. Many feel it would actually be better to have it moved to a new
location.
An area of about an acre is anticipated to be needed. This would not be all for the actual ride surfaces
but include green space, landscaping, and possible spectator areas.
Staff is requesting the Parks and Recreation Commission come to the meeting with ideas of where in the
city a new skate park could be located. Orono Park has been discussed at recent work sessions for the
possible location of a new skate park The concern with this location is the placement of a skate park in
ref4rence to the new destination playground.
Successful parks have two common qualities associated with them. Ease of access and high visibility.
Keep this in mind when reviewing possible sites.
