RE: LAKE ORONO SEDIMENT REMOVAL PROJECT
Dear Council Members:
Steve Rohlf has informed me that he. has successfully completed negotiations with the
landowners for the deposition of the Lake Orono sediment. Therefore, at this time we
are prepared to recommend award of the contract to Veit and Company, Inc. as the
lowest responsible bidder. Attached is a resolution for the City Council's consideration,
which accepts the bid and authorizes the execution of the contract with Veit and
Company. As you are aware, there were a number of alternates bid with the project. At
Monday evening's City Council meeting, I will be prepared to make a recommendation
relative to the alternate bids. We may also have the first change order for the City
Council's consideration. This change order will deal with a pocket of unsuitable material
that is to be removed on the Bickman property as part of the negotiations, and a
correction in the bid documents. An item was bid by the square yard. It is actually a
much smaller quantity, and should have been square feet.
Should you have any questions regarding this project, I will be in attendance at Monday
evening's City Council meeting.
