Adopt by motion attached ordinance providing for the implementation and enforcement of regulations
regarding public conduct in parks.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
Per the city attorney, the attached ordinance enables the enforcement of park regulations. All future park
regulations adopted by City Council shall be enforced,pursuant to the authority of this ordinance.
Having this ordinance in place will permit the city to adopt and enforce park regulations, and issue
citations for violations of regulations.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The financial impact for this city ordinance is the cost for staff to make and post signs and the possible
staff time related to enforce park regulations.

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 54, ARTICLE II OF THE CITY OF ELK
RIVER CODE OF ORDINANCES TO PROVIDE FOR THE ADOPTION AND
ENFORCEMENT OF REGULATIONS REGARDING PUBLIC
CONDUCT IN PARKS
The City Council of the City of Elk River does hereby ordain as follows:
Section 1. That Chapter 54,Article II of the City of Elk River Code of Ordinances shall be
amended to add new Section 54-34 thereto,which shall read as follows:
Sec. 54-34. Adoption and Enforcement of Regulations.
(a) Regulations regarding permitted and prohibited activities within public parks
which are adopted by the City Council shall be enforced by the City Park and
Police Departments.
(b) Any person failing to comply with an adopted regulation regarding park use
use,including posted regulations and restrictions, shall be guilty of a
misdemeanor.
Section 2. That this Ordinance shall take effect upon adoption and be published as provided by
law.
