Discussion on Work Program(Brimeyer Report)
This past fall, the City Council authorized the hiring of Jim Brimeyer of The Brimeyer Group, Inc.
to complete an assessment of city organizational issues. In this regard, Mr. Brirneyer met with the
City Council to discuss the scope of the project; received written feedback from department heads
and the City Council to a questionnaire which he authored; organized this feedback and presented
the information to the Council; and then presented a work program recommendation to the
Council. The work program covered organizational management, Council/staff relations, and
governance issues. This work program was presented to the department heads on December 16,
2003. This work program has not been discussed joindy by the City Council and City Administrator
nor has it been formally approved.
Mayor Nlinzing has requested this item be on the agenda for Council discussion as to how we
should proceed. Some of the time frames in the work plan need to be reviewed, as does any level of
professional assistance that is necessary to implement various components of the work plan.
Whether the Council xvants to discuss these issues in a ~vorksession at the end of a Council meeting
or at a special meeting should be part of the discussion on January 12, 2004.
