7.0. SR 07-20-1998vity of iver MEMORANDUM Item #7. TO: FROM: DATE: SUBJECT: Mayor & City Council Pat Klaers, City Ad~i~trator July 20, 1998 ] ~/ Personnel Issue I have an administration secretarial position and issue to review with the City Council under the Other Business agenda category. This issue is not in any way related to the building secretary/receptionist position which the City Council considered a few weeks ago. A recommendation on an alternative to meet the building clerical needs will be presented to the City Council in the near future. The administrative secretary issue which I need to discuss with the City Council is the resignation of Joni Pearson. Joni has accepted another position. I have reviewed this resignation with a number of department heads and we unanimously agreed that we should try to match the offer in order to retain Joni's services. Joni is an exceptional employee, has versatile skills, and it seems appropriate to try to retain her if financially reasonable. Additionally, ff Joni did leave, a logical replacement for her would be Tina Allard, the front desk secretary/receptionist, and this would require a pay grade change (to the secretary level) and I would also be recommending a pay adjustment. In this regard, we could either essentially match Joni's offer or pay the same amount in elevating Tina to Joni's position. The increase is about $1.20 per hour and it is recommended that we adjust Joni's wage to $12.00 per hour and retain her services as the administrative secretary. Recommendation It is recommended that the City Council adjust the pay of Administrative Secretary Joni Pearson to $12.00 per hour effective immediately. 13065 Orono Parkway · P.O.
