West, Fire Chie~t~~ August 17, 1998 Fire Department Open House and Dance The Elk River Fire and Ambulance Service will be holding its annual Fire Department Open House and Dance on Saturday, September 19, 1998. The Open House will be between the hours of i and 5 p.m., and will be held at the Elk River Fire Station at 415 Jackson Avenue. There will be numerous demonstrations held during the day. Some of the demonstrations include rescue extrication, fire extinguisher demonstrations, ice water rescue techniques, Minnegasco carbon monoxide information, the fire safe escape house, etc. Also, the Fire Department's Emergency Medical Technicians be giving blood pressure checks during the Open House. We will be giving away free balloons to the kids, free cookies, popcorn, and pop. The Fire Department's equipment will be on display for all of the community to see and the newly purchased advanced life support ambulance will also be on display. In the evening of September 19, the firefighters will be holding their annual fundraising dance. Once again this year, the music will be provided by the Whitesidewalls. The cost of the dance is $7.50 per person. The dance will be held from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m. at the Elk River Fire Station. There will be food vendors at both the Open House and Dance and beverages for the dance will be on sale through the Elk River Lions Club. We look forward to a fun filled day at both the Open House and the annual fundraising dance. Tickets for the dance may be purchased from any Elk River firefighter or at the Elk River Fire Department.
