The amount approved will be $33,000.00; approximately one third of these monies will be available to the Elk River Police Deparunem. I am including a copy of the letter from the State indicating we have received temative approval. Also attached is a resolution authorizing myseWto enter into an agreement with the Minnesota Department of Public Safety for the Safe & Sober grant. Chief Thomas Zerwas is hereby authorized to execute such agreements and amendments as are necessary to implement the project on behalf of the Elk River Police Department and to be the fiscal agent and administer the grant. As expected, we received requests for much more money than we had available; you have a definite right to be proud of your work. I also happy to report that I have been assigned to be your Office of Traffic Safety coordinator. We have temporarily set aside $33,000 for your Safe & Sober project. I will call soon to set up a time to come to Elk River to discuss changes in your work plan or budget that may be necessary and to answer any questions about the Safe & Sober program.
