Authorize,by motion, staff to review and recommend changes to the ordinance regarding wineries.
Background/Discussion
Staff has received a request from Goose Lake Farm and Wine to relocate to Elk River from Nowthen.
The city code is not clear with regard to regulating wineries within the city. Local wineries are becoming
more popular and staff believes these are the types of businesses that reflect Elk River's agricultural
heritage and are appropriate in certain areas of the community.
Staff seeks authorization to research wineries and recommend changes to the ordinance appropriate for
the use and the locations.
