Approve by motion a special event permit to Elk River Youth Volleyball for a 5K walk/run scheduled for
Sunday, September 15, 2013,with the following conditions:
1. The event planner is required to notify surrounding businesses, residents, and organizations. The
city will provide a template of the notice that must be distributed. The city will also provide a list
of the properties to be notified. The event planner must submit an affidavit that the notice was
distributed.
2. Applicant shall be responsible for garbage clean up immediately following the event.
3. No paint allowed anywhere on trails. Chalk or cones may be used.
4. Applicant must contact Police Captain Ron Nierenhausen at least three weeks prior to event to
arrange for police reserves.
5. All dogs must be leashed according to city code.
Background/Discussion
Elk River Youth Volleyball is requesting to host a 5K walk/run on Sunday, September 15, 2013. Below is
a synopsis of the request:
• The 5K walk/run will begin and end at Elk River High School.
• The event begins at 1:00 p.m. and goes until 5:00 p.m.
• Elk River Youth Volleyball is anticipating 500 participants,volunteers, and spectators.
• Elk River Youth Volleyball has requested traffic control at the intersection of Highland
Road/County Road 77.
