Action Requested
Approve by motion a special event permit to Elk River High School Hockey/Blue Line Club for a 5K
walk/run scheduled for Saturday, October 12, 2013,with the following conditions:
1. The event planner is required to notify surrounding businesses, residents, and organizations. The
city will provide a template of the notice that must be distributed. The city will also provide a list
of the properties to be notified. The event planner must submit an affidavit that the notice was
distributed.
2. Applicant shall be responsible for garbage clean up immediately following the event.
3. No paint allowed anywhere on trails. Chalk or cones may be used.
4. Applicant must contact Police Captain Ron Nierenhausen at least three weeks prior to event to
arrange for police reserves.
Background/Discussion
Elk River High School Hockey/Blue Line Club is requesting to host a 5K walk/run on Saturday,
October 12, 2013. Below is a synopsis of the request:
• The 5K walk/run will begin and end at Elk River Arena
• The event begins at 8:00 a.m. and goes until 11:00 a.m.
• Elk River Hockey is anticipating 80-100 participants,volunteers, and spectators.
