Jeremy Barnhart,Deputy Director Community Operations and Development Reviewed by Action Requested HRA to hear informational presentation and take action authorizing the installation of outlet located at the Main Street Parking Plaza, east of the Elk River Meat Market for future bands and other public events. Background/Discussion The United Way proposes to sponsor the installation of a 240 volt/40amp electrical outlet at the downtown parking lot just east of the Elk River Meat Market. Currently, there are two 110 volt outlets in place, the 240 volt outlet is needed to handle the electrical equipment of the bands. The outlet will be used by bands and other public events in the area. The 40 amp plug will be weather proof and can either be left as-is, or a lock box can be installed if the HRA chooses to charge for the electrical usage. The bands will wish to use the outlet starting September 14, 2013 and annually thereafter for their United We Dance event. Included in the installation is the electrical permit and inspection. Inspections are completed by the State. Electrical Usage: The HRA may choose to allow the electricity to be used free of charge to the public or it can require that a fee be charged. If a fee is charged,Andy's Electric can install a lock box and a fee can be charged as part of the general application process for public events in that area. It is anticipated that at the current rate of$.12 per Kilowatt,per hour, the cost will be $1.15 per hour in electrical usage. Financial Impact None.
