1) Meeting called to Order
Elk River Heritage Preservation Commission was called to order at 6:22 p.m.by Vice Chair
Mortensen.
2) History Day Discussion
Commissioner VanPatten indicated ArtSoup being receptive to the idea. Commissioner Rohlf will
check with the 1st and 2nd MN Units about their availability on June 15,2013. Vice Chair Mortensen
is going to develop a flier to bring to the Rendezvous events in New Ulm and Albert Lea.
Discussion took place about having a parade,a fashion show,civil war demonstrations and the Old
Town Ball game. The time period will be 1845-1865. The goal of the event will be an interactive fun
Sand educational opportunity to learn about the history in the Elk River area. Staff will contact Salk
Middle School to gauge their interest level in participating in the event.
