Action Requested
Motion to approve a special event permit to Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) for a 2K/5K
scheduled for Saturday, October 12, 2013, subject to the following conditions:
1. Applicant shall be responsible for garbage clean-up immediately following the event.
2. Walkers/runners are to utilize sidewalks, trails systems, or road shoulders throughout the entire
route. No road closures will be permitted. It is each runner's responsibility to ensure the
streets/intersections are safe prior to crossing.
3. Applicant must contact Police Captain Ron Nierenhausen (763.635.1202) at least three weeks
prior to event to arrange for police reserves.
Background/Discussion
ECFE is requesting to host a 2K and a 5K run/walk on Saturday, October 12, 2013. Below is a synopsis
of the request:
• The event begins at 10:00 a.m. and ends at 11:30 a.m.
• The event is open to the public. ECFE is expecting approximately 150 participants.
• Following the run there will be a gathering of participants at Handke Family Center for fun, free
activities for families in the Natures Explore Classroom.
