Action Requested
Staff recommends the City Council not vacate either street.
Background/Discussion
The City Council reviewed a request to vacate portions of Western Avenue and Park Lane at their August
19, 2013 meeting. During the public hearing, the owner of the neighboring property west of the subject
property indicated that they owned one of the streets because it had already been vacated. Staff has not
seen any documentation supporting this and with the information staff has on file, the streets appear to
be owned by the city.
If the owner can provide information that they do indeed own the street, the city cannot vacate that
street. If for some reason they can prove this, Park Lane to be the left as the only access point to the
"park"land.
Because of this, staff is not supportive of vacating either street at this time.
