Maintenance I Employee
The 2004 budget contains funding to hire a Maintenance I worker to fill the vacancy created
when Gary Lore moved from Streets/Parks to Building Maintenance.
We advertised for two weeks in the Star news and received 26 applications. We interviewed
5 applicants and were very pleased with the quality people we had to choose from.
Recommendation:
Staff recommends hiring Mike Zappa as a full,time Maintenance I worker contingent upon
his satisfactory completion of background checks, and pre-employment drug screening tests.
Due to his previous work experience, I would recommend that he start at a pay grade 8, level
C or $16.46 with the possibility of advancement to pay grade 8, level D after satisfactorily
completing a 6-month probationary period.
