Subject: Replace Digger-Derrick Line Truck
Our 10 year Capital Project Projections, which is attached, reflects replacing a digger-
derrick line truck in 2004. We try to replace our electric line trucks on a ten year or
10,000 hour basis. The truck scheduled to be replaced, is a 1992 Chevrolet Kodiak gas
engine digger-derrick line truck with 25,420 miles and 5,541 hours. It was scheduled to
be replaced last year, but due to budget constraints, was kept. This piece of equipment is
showing its age and should be replaced. Estimate cost to replace is $120,000.
Staff recommends authorization be given to draft plans, specifications, and secure bids to
replace this piece of equipment. If this vehicle is purchased in July 2003, delivery will be
in the first quarter of 2004.
