SUBJECT: Review Woodland Trails Shelter Options

Request
The Commission is asked to review the four attached Woodland Trails shelter options and
provide direction to staff regarding any changes that should be made to the designs. Staff
will be preparing a DNR Outdoor Recreation Grant application to assist in the development
of the shelter. Once a design is selected, a construction estimate can be developed.
The purpose of the shelter will be to provide meeting/classroom space to be utilized for
interpretive activities at the park, community meeting opportunities,weddings,warming
house activities, ski rental, and any other use that could be envisioned. It is anticipated that
the facility will be located east of the parking lot nestled into the hill which was the location
identified by the Commission in 2001.
