Mayor will administer the Oath of Office to Officer Jonathan Christie.
Background/Discussion
As a result of the resignation of Officer Brynell Stewart, the Council authorized the hiring of Officer
Jonathan Christie at the November 4, 2013, Council meeting. Officer Christie is a former United States
Marine and member of the Elk River Police Reserves.
It is a tradition in the Police Department that the Oath of Office be administered at an open Council
meeting as a means of publicly introducing new officers. The Oath of Office is a public statement of
commitment to support the Constitutions of the United States of America and the State of Minnesota;
and to uphold the laws and statutes of the State of Minnesota and the ordinances of the City of Elk River.
