SUBJECT: Boys and Girls Club Update
Councflmember Thompson is the Chair of the Board of Directors of the Elk
River Boys and Girls Club. Mayor Duitsman is also on the board. The Lions
Club is working with this organization on the construction of a facility in
Lions Park. The Boys and Girls Club is moving forward with its fund raising
efforts in order to provide money for the construction of the facility and the
operation of the club during the first year.
The draft ground lease agreement between the city and the Boys and Girls
Club has been distributed to the banks and to the Boys and Girls Club for
review. Some feedback from the banks has been received and in the near
future a conference call or a meeting will be set up to resolve issues related to
the proposal. At this time I have not received feedback from the Boys and
Girls Club on the draft ground lease agreement.
Winter is quickly approaching and at this time I am not sure if the plans of
the Boys and Girls Club are to move forward with the construction as soon as
possible or to wait until spring.
Councilmember Thompson and/or Mayor Duitsman will be in attendance at
this meeting and should be able to provide everyone with an update on the
progress that is being made with this project.
