Appoint two members from the Parks and Recreation Commission as a planning group to work with City
staff on the Parks and Recitation Master Plan Committee.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
The Parks and Recitation Master Plan project is beginning this month with a December 12 meeting and
tour of our parks and facilities. A Parks and Recreation Master Plan Committee made up of a core group
of City staff is needed to guide the master plan process and work Staff is recommending that two
members of the Parks and Recreation Commission become part of this committee. The requirements are
to participate in work sessions with the consultants and staff to develop the priorities,framework, goals,
Draft Master Plan,Focus Area Plans and Action Plans.
Parks and Recitation Commission Members Mark Ahlness and Ryan Holmgren have indicated to staff
that they are interested to serve on the Parks and Recitation Master Plan Committee. The Parks and
Recreation Commission will act as a sounding board for the entire master planning process during 2014.
