SUBJECT: Park Update— 2003 Spring Park Projects, Well & Irrigation
Systems, Flower Beds & Shrub Gardens, and 2003 Mowing
As we move into Spring, I wanted to update the Park&Recreation
Commission on our upcoming projects and current park operations.
The following attachments highlight those areas. I will be on hand to answer
any questions you may have.

MOWING HOURS
City Parks&Athletic Fields(115 acres) 70 hours per week
Boulevards, Medians &Right of Ways 23 hours per week
Misc. areas, i.e. lift stations, ER Utilities,
Fire Station, Liquor Store, Library,
Emporium, and Waste Water Treatment 20 hours per week

2003 Park Projects for Spring
1. Check all playgrounds.
2. Put up volleyball nets(Orono Park-3), (Ridgewood East-1), (Deerfield 4th-1),
(Barrington-1).
3. Check all basketball nets, (Moldenhaur-2), (Lion's-4), (Ridgewood East-1), (Deerfield
4th-1), (Barrington-1), (Country Crossing-2), (Riverplace-2).
4. Put up basketball standard at Ridgewood East.
5. Seed bad spots around soccer goals in Oak Knoll.
6. Put up soccer nets at Oak Knoll.
7. Line soccer fields at Oak Knoll.
8. Put in boat dock at Orono Park.
9. Check and place garbage cans in all parks.
10. Check and place picnic tables in all parks.
11. Check bleachers at Oak Knoll, Orono,Kuss, and YAC ball fields.
12. Prepare all flowerbeds (remove straw and weeds).
13. Take down hockey boards at Handke Pit, and at Lions Park
14. Fertilize all parks.
15. Aerate Orono, Oak Knoll, and YAC ball fields.
16. Start up irrigation systems (Library,Emporium,Northbound Liquor,Depot site,EDA
site,Jackson Square,large downtown parking lot,Fire station, Chamber office,
concession stand at Orono Ball fields, Orono softball complex, Orono Park,Kuss field,
Oak Knoll Fields,Youth Athletic Complex, Lion's Park,Ice Arena, Tyler Street, and
Vanity Field).
17. Finish aglime on infields and warning track at YAC fields 5 and 6.
18. Install water line from BMX track well to YAC concession stand.
19. Check and prune all boulevard trees as needed.
20. Check out fishing pier and ramp down to pier.
21. Hookup drinking fountain at YAC.
22. Install distance markers for Oak Knoll and YAC fields.
23. Hookup drinking fountains in Lion's Park
24. Order toilets needed for parks and athletic fields.
25. Check all payphones, (Orono Park,Woodland trails, Oak Knoll).
26. Install park identification signs.
27. Remove snow fence from Deerfield Hill Park and landscape around playground.
28. Install basketball standards at Riverplace Park
29. Finish Hillside parking and picnic area.
30. Pedestrian bridge landscaping.
31. Scott Breuer Construction to build YAC concession stand.
32. Trott Brook Barn- siding,and interior finish work
33. Replace Lions Park trail lights.
34. Build skate park and hockey rink at Lions Park
35. Build BMX track in Baldwin Park

• Shrub garden at Hwy 169 pedestrian bridge.
• Shrubs around Street Maintenance building and flowers out front around
sign.
• Rose bushes along Hwy 10 by Kemper and next to Utilities office.
• Perennials behind Kemper, around Utility building and through parking
lot.
