Request
The Elk River American Legion,the Elk River-Rogers V.F.W. and the Elk River community
represented by Robert Mord are requesting formal approval of the major park use of Lions
Park for May 26, 2003 (Memorial Day). The use of the park will be for the Community
Memorial Service,which has been held annually for many years.
This request is before you, however, due the recently-adopted Park Use Policy which
requires all major park uses to be reviewed by the Park and Recreation Commission for fees
and deposits. As this request has been held at Lions Park for a number of years prior to
2003, staff does not believe that a fee or a deposit is required. This is a community-wide
memorial service and is not used for fundraising or other such purposes.
Recommendation
Staff recommends that the Park and Recreation Commission approve the use of Lions Park
for the Annual Community Memorial Day program in 2003 and future years.
