Ms Nickols has been very successful in obtaining groups or individuals to adopt many of the
City's parks. Of the 40 City parks, 17 have been adopted and are being cared for by Elk River
residents and others. There are still a few larger parks that are waiting for adoption.
In addition to the signs acknowledging resident efforts, an article was included in November's
Current, and staff proposes to purchase a small display ad in the Elk River Star News
acknowledging these efforts on behalf of the City's park system.
