The Board would like to use the $3,000 that is in the Capital Outlay category in the 2002 library budget for this expenditure. The 2002 Capital Outlay item was for motion detectors and these motion detectors were actually purchases in late 2001 using funds that were available within the 2001 budget. Accordingly, funds are available for this requested expenditure. Recommendation It is recommended that the City Council approve the shelving and carpeting expenditure by way of transferring the Capital Outlay funds to operating supplies. 0870~/~00~ 0~:~ 763~419~60 E~FA× ~GE 0~ August6,2002 Mr. Pat Klaers, City Administrator 13065 Orono Parkway P.O. Box 490 Elk River, MN 55330 Dear Mr. Klaers, I am writing to you on behalf of the Elk River Library Board. The library currently needs additional storage behind the desk. The best estimate at this time is for metal shelving with oak end pieces, 9-foot length for $1,665.00. However, removing the current shelving behind the desk requires new flooring. The cost of the entire project (shelving and carpeting) would be slightly below $3,000.00 dollars. To fund this purchase of shelving and carpeting, the Board members are requesting that the $3,000.00 from the Capital Outlay line item be transferred to this project. I appreciate your attention to this matter. Please do not hesitate to call if you have any questions or concerns. I can be reached at home (763-274-1987) or at work (763-862- 4376). Sincerely, Jeri Miller Secretary, Elk River Library Board
