Approve,by motion,the purchase of a 2014 CAT Skid Steer with accessories and attachments.
Background/Discussion
The Parks and Recreation Department is seeking authorization to purchase a budgeted 2014 skid steer to
be used for performing general park maintenance functions.
The current 2003 skid steer with tracks is scheduled to be replaced on a 10 year rotation. It will have a
total of 11 years of use and an estimated 2,500 hours of use when replaced. Over the past 10 years,the
department has put on a significant amount of hours on the machine.
The vendor on the state contract is Ziegler CAT and per the city purchasing policy, any single purchase
estimated to exceed$50,000 requires Council approval.
Financial Impact
The total cost of the skid steer with accessories and attachments is $57,313. The equipment replacement
fund budget for this equipment was estimated at$54,500. The difference will be made up from a $2,372
savings on the purchase of a mower and$571 savings from the purchase of a snowmobile. We will still
be under budget by$130 on all three parks department purchases for 2014.
