Action Requested
Approve by motion the hiring of Kristin Mroz as Environmental Technician effective February 20, 2014.
Background/Discussion
We received 10 applications for this position,interviewed four candidates and recommend Kristin Mroz
to be our new Environmental Technician.
Ms. Mroz holds a degree in Resource Management and has spent the past two years as a Peace Corps
Environmental Educator volunteer in Nicaragua. We were very impressed with her ability to move to a
foreign country,learn the language and culture,and independently manage her community for two years,
providing environmental education and learning opportunities for students and adults.
Ms. Mroz will start at step A of pay grade 7. Based on satisfactory performance,Ms. Mroz will be eligible
to move to step B in six months. All other pay and benefits will be consistent with city policy.
Financial Impact
This is a budgeted position.
