Subject: Director's Report
This report is a monthly highlight of our Department's activities informing the Commission
on items related to collaborations, strategic planning, staff changes/ development, and park
operations.
Parks Maintenance Position
The position closed on Tuesday,February 18. A total of 207 applications were received and
are currently being reviewed by HR We hope to start initial interviews by the end of this
month.
Houlton Property
We continue to work with the Conservation Fund to look for other sources of grant money
for the Houlton property. The Letter of Intent (LOI) with the Conservation Fund does
have a May 14th 2014 deadline. We are currently holding off on renewing the LOI until we
have a better sense of possible funding.
Pinewood Golf Course
The annual Pinewood Golf Event at the Activity Center that was planned for March 6 has
been postponed. It is an annual event that highlights the golf course. Recent mediation
failed to yield new options. This will go to trial on September 22, as the legal renegotiation
of the Pinewood Golf Course continues.
Parks and Recreation Professional Magazine
Attached is a page from"Up on Play' which is a national publication created for parks and
recreation professional sharing stories and interviews. The latest edition has an interview of
me to learn about our department.
